KAKANDE, MORY KANTé (Sunday) Led by Famoro Dioubate, a Guinean griot based in New York, the band Kakande plays light and nimble grooves on electric bass, congas, flutes and saxophone, all surrounding the cascades of melody on Mr. Dioubate’s balafon, a wooden xylophone. The concert comes with the significant endorsement of Mory Kanté, one of Guinea’s best-known musicians (“Yeke Yeke”).
